After a 12-year halt, Goa auctioned mineral blocks and signed a mine development agreement in March 2024; Vedanta began actual extraction at Bicholim Block I in April 2024. Increase social security pension to Rs 3,000 (Dayanand Social Security Scheme)
The Dayanand Social Security Scheme (Amendment) 2024, notified 26 December 2024, raised assistance to Rs 2,000/month for most categories (senior citizens, single women, disabled), Rs 2,500 for childless widows and Rs 3,500 for persons with 90%+ disability, rather than a uniform Rs 3,000 for all beneficiaries.
